I wish you enough!

My friends and loved ones: I wish you ENOUGH!!!
Not long ago, at the airport, I overheard a father and daughter talking before parting forever. Her flight had been announced and passengers were being called to board. Standing near the gate, she said: “Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough too, Dad.” They kissed goodbye and she left. He came over to the window where I was sitting. I could see that he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to disturb him, but he asked me:
“Have you ever said goodbye to someone knowing it was forever?”
“Yes, I have,” I replied, and memories flooded back of the time I expressed my love and gratitude to my father for everything he had done for me.
Knowing his days were numbered, I had done everything possible to tell him face to face how much he meant to me. So I understood what the man I was speaking to was going through.
“Forgive me, but what makes this goodbye final?” I asked.
“I’m old, and she lives very far away. I have some challenges ahead, and I know that in fact her next visit will be for my funeral,” he replied.
“As you said goodbye, I heard her say ‘I wish you enough’. May I ask what that means?”
He smiled.
“It’s a wish that has been passed down through the generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.”
The man fell silent, looked up as though trying to remember the details, and smiled even more.
“When we said ‘I wish you enough’, we were wishing each other enough good things in life to sustain us.” He turned to me and continued as though reciting: “I wish you enough sun to keep your outlook bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain to make even the smallest joys in life seem much greater. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your desires. I wish you enough loss to appreciate what you have. I wish you enough ‘hellos’ to give you strength for the final ‘goodbye’.” His eyes filled with tears and he walked away.
My friends and loved ones: I wish you ENOUGH!!! They say, “It takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them and a lifetime to forget them.”
Send this phrase to the people you will never forget. Send it back to the person who sent it to you too. It is a short way of telling them you will never forget them. If you do not send it, perhaps it means you are in too much of a hurry and need to slow down a little to enjoy what is around you and the people who surround you. I wish you enough!!!
